SUCCESS STORY: FLEXIBLE AND EFFICIENT LIGHTING RETROFIT AT BATTERSEA STUDIOS

Battersea Studios, a historic Art Deco building in London, was renovated to become a hub for business and creativity. Hytronik was tasked with implementing a retrofit solution to create a lighting system that was flexible, energy-efficient, and that respected the building’s protected design.

The Challenge

The client needed a solution that:

Adapted to the various uses of the building, including meetings, events, and creative studios.

Automatically managed the switching off of lights in unoccupied areas to save energy.

Integrated both existing and new lighting systems (DALI, Bluetooth, and 230V dimming) into a single solution.

Enabled manual and centralised control via an app, without visible cabling.

Respected the design, avoiding structural changes that could affect the building's aesthetics.

Prepared the system for future expansions without major modifications.

The Solution

1. DALI/Bluetooth controllers: Integrated into existing luminaires without the need for additional wiring, allowing light adjustments via the Koolmesh app.

2. Motion sensors: Installed in high-traffic areas to ensure automatic switching off in unoccupied spaces, optimising energy use.

3. Bluetooth receivers: Allow users to control lighting in multifunctional rooms and studios, integrating luminaires with 230V dimming.

4. Gateways: Allow remote monitoring and control of the building's lighting, with automated on/off scheduling via the Koolmesh app.

5. Touch panels: Installed in key areas, enabling instant manual adjustments with preconfigured scenes.
