Lighting Control System for PadelBox Bermondsey

Hytronik, in collaboration with Low Energy Designs, contributed to the lighting of the courts at the new PadelBox Bermondsey club in London, providing a control system to optimise energy efficiency and enhance the player experience.

THE CHALLENGE

The newly built PadelBox Bermondsey club required a lighting system that met the following criteria:

• Optimal court visibility: Ensuring adequate light levels for both professional and amateur padel players.

• Energy consumption optimisation: Implementing a control system to efficiently manage lighting usage and make the most of available natural light.

• Simplified management: Providing club administrators with an intuitive lighting control system via an app and local switches.

• Flexible lighting operation: Allowing dynamic adjustments to suit different match and training requirements.

THE SOLUTION

To meet these challenges, the following technological solution was implemented:

1. Bluetooth control: Bluetooth repeaters were installed on each court, creating a stable network for precise lighting management. This ensures real-time synchronisation and maintains system continuity even during power outages.

2. Advanced LED luminaires: New LED luminaires from Low Energy Designs were equipped with Hytronik Bluetooth controllers, allowing precise brightness regulation and on/off functionality based on usage conditions.

3. Wireless self-powered switches: EnOcean-based switches, requiring no wiring or batteries, were installed to allow quick manual control without relying on a centralised system.

4. Management via the Koolmesh app: Court lighting is managed through the Koolmesh app, enabling staff and players to:

o Select pre-configured lighting scenes, such as training or competition modes.

o Adjust brightness levels according to schedules and playing conditions.

o Automate lighting shut-off to prevent unnecessary energy consumption.

RESULTS & BENEFITS

The implementation of Hytronik’s lighting control system at PadelBox Bermondsey has delivered significant benefits:

• Enhanced player experience: Optimised lighting ensures perfect visibility on the court, reducing glare and minimising eye strain.

• Energy consumption optimisation: Efficient lighting management ensures responsible energy use and extends the lifespan of the LED luminaires.

• Improved operational efficiency: Club staff can easily manage lighting schedules and intensity levels via the Koolmesh app.

• Total flexibility: Wireless switches allow for quick manual adjustments, adapting lighting to different game scenarios.

• Sustainability commitment: Energy optimisation supports the club’s commitment to efficiency and reducing its carbon footprint. By combining advanced LED lighting with Hytronik’s control system, PadelBox Bermondsey sets a new standard in sustainability and technology for padel sports facilities.
