Dual-Sense™ Motion Detection
Double technology in a single sensor. Zero detection errors.
Combine the precision of PIR with the sensitivity of microwave (HF) detection. Dual-Sense™ brings reliable, adaptable motion sensing to any lighting control system.
PIR and HF: powerful technologies, each with its place
Smarter lighting begins with smarter sensing. In intelligent lighting systems, motion detection plays a critical role — not only in enhancing user comfort but also in optimizing energy efficiency. Today, two core technologies dominate the market:

Passive Infrared (PIR): valued for its accuracy and stability in defined zones.

Microwave (HF): known for its high sensitivity and broad coverage.
Each technology excels in its own environment. Yet, depending on just one approach may leave certain scenarios uncovered. That’s why forward-thinking lighting projects often benefit from combining both. At Hytronik, we design PIR, HF and Dual-Sense™ solutions — so you can choose the right option for each space, or rely on a sensor that unites both.
Microwave (HF) Detection
Ultra-sensitive motion sensing for wide-area coverage
HF detection uses high-frequency electromagnetic waves to sense movement — even through certain materials. This makes it extremely responsive, ideal for both open and partially obstructed spaces.
Key Advantages:

Metal Reflection Interference
Waves bounce off metallic surfaces, creating false triggers.

Environmental Motion Sensitivity
Moving fans or curtains can be misinterpreted as human movement.

Signal Penetration Across Zones
Detects people in adjacent rooms or corridors through walls.
Passive Infrared (PIR) Detection
Precise, heat-based motion sensing for defined areas
PIR detection identifies changes in infrared radiation — typically emitted by human body heat — to detect movement within a defined zone. It is highly accurate and stable, making it ideal for targeted, privacy-conscious applications.
Key Advantages:

Sunlight & Heat Interference
Strong sunlight or nearby heat sources can cause false triggers.

Obstruction Blind Spots
Objects like furniture or glass can block detection zones, leading to missed motion.

Low-Temperature & Slow-Movement Misses
Cold environments or very slow movement may go undetected.

No single method fits all.
That’s where Dual-Sense™ comes in — intelligently combining both.

💡 Enter Dual-Sense™
Hytronik’s Dual-Sense™ blends Microwave and PIR sensing into one cohesive solution. You can even choose which one (or both) to use — either manually or automatically.
Result? Smarter, more adaptable detection across all spaces.
From open-plan offices to echo-heavy stairwells, your lights won’t turn on too easily — or worse, not at all.
4 Detection Modes for Any Scenario
Tailor the detection behavior to your space’s needs — here’s how each mode performs.
Four Modes:
HF Only – Super-sensitive mode for maximum responsiveness — detects even micro-movements across large areas.
PIR Only – High-precision and privacy-focused — responds only to body heat within defined zones.
Either – Triggered by either HF or PIR for maximum coverage and responsiveness.
Both – Activates only when both HF and PIR detect motion — ensuring highest accuracy and avoiding false triggers.

3 Easy Setup Methods
Once you’ve chosen your detection mode, configure it instantly with three simple adjustment methods — keeping learning curves low and flexibility high.
DIP Switch – On-device hardware setting for quick and reliable adjustments.
Remote Controller – Make changes from the ground without accessing the fixture.
Koolmesh App – featured wireless control and advanced configuration via your smartphone/pad.

🛠️ Real Talk: Why It Matters
Installers and building managers, rejoice.
Dual-Sense™ means:
🔧 Fewer callbacks from annoyed users
⏱️ Faster commissioning (especially in complex spaces)
🎛️ Flexibility to adapt with DIP switches or software in Koolmesh app

Glass-walled offices where PIR struggles
Accuracy Through Transparency - Glass walls block PIR, but HF sees through — Dual-Sense™ uses both for flawless detection.

Industrial spaces where HF overreacts
Taming the Over-Sensitive - HF alone can overreact to machinery. Dual-Sense™ filters false triggers for reliable control.

Multi-use zones where you need a balance of sensitivity & precision
Balancing Energy & Comfort - From intense motion to near-stillness, Dual-Sense™ adapts in real time for the right response.
Dual-Sense™ Decision Checklist
Not every sensor is right for every space. This quick checklist helps you decide if Dual-Sense™ is the best fit for your project.
- ✅ Areas with glass, machinery, or active ventilation
- ✅ Spaces with mixed or changing uses
- ✅ High-bay industrial installations
- ✅ Retrofit projects (no rewiring)
- ✅ You need a single reference for everything
